“Fishery Arts”

Carp polyculture can be utilized using huge amount of organic wastes such as cow dung or poultry droppings and production levels of 1-3 ton/ha/year can be obtained with application of both organic and inorganic fertilizers alone. Provision of feed enhances the fish production significantly and production levels of 4-8 ton/ha/yr are obtained using a judicious combination of both the feed and fertilizers.

There are Lots of Pond Preparation

ü Pre-stocking Pond Preparations

ü Stocking of Ponds

ü Post-stocking Pond Management

ü Pond aeration

ü Harvesting

Pond preparation involves making ponds weed and predator-free and generating adequate natural food to ensure high rates of survival and good growth and thereby yields.

Ponds are stocked with seed of appropriate size after acclimatizing them to the new habitat when it is ready after fertilization.

Fertilization: The ponds are classified into three groups based on the nutrient levels of the soil substratum. Fertilization measures for carp production ponds are recommended as follows. While 20-25% of the total amount of organic manures is applied as basal dose, a fortnight before the stocking, the remaining amount is applied in equal installments on a bimonthly basis.

What are the basics of AM radio receivers?

In the early days of what is now known as early radio transmissions, say about 100 years ago, signals were generated by various means but only up to the L.F. region.

Communication was by way of mores code much in the form that a short transmission denoted a dot (dit) and a longer transmission was a dash (dah). These was the only form of radio transmission until the 1920’s and only of use to the military, commercial telegraph companies and amateur experimenters.

Circuit

A circuit composed solely of components connected in series is known as a series circuit; likewise, one connected completely in parallel is known as a parallel circuit.

In a series circuit, the current through each of the components is the same, and the voltage across the components is the sum of the voltages across each component. In a parallel circuit, the voltage across each of the components is the same, and the total current is the sum of the currents through each component.

Things Needed:

1 D cell battery

1 1-D battery holder

Foundation Pattern

A foundation pattern, also known as a block pattern, a master pattern a basic pattern, or a slope, is a perfectly plain pattern made without seam or hem allowances. It is never used as a pattern for cutting a fabric for a garment.

A foundation pattern can be made by draping on forms and figures, by drafting form body measurements and modifying pattern on hand.

“COCOA CHIFFON CAKE”

This low-fat chiffon cake has a light, soft crumb and a satisfying chocolate flavor.

Ingredients:

1/2 c. vegetable oil plus extra for preparing pan
1/3 c. plus 1 tbsp. sifted Dutch-process cocoa plus extra for preparing pan

1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 lg. egg yolk
5 lg. egg whites, at room temp.
Pinch of cream of tartar
2 tbsp. sifted confectioners' sugar plus extra for dusting cake

Procedure:

1.Position rack in the center of the oven and preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Brush the inside of a 9 inch bunts or spring form tube pan with oil and sift a little cocoa over the pan. Tap out the excess.

2.Sift together flour, 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon cocoa, sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon into a large bowl. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add oil, 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons warm water, vanilla and egg yolk. Do not mix.

3.Place egg whites in another large mixing bowl. Add cream of tartar and beat with an electric mixer until they are white and foamy. Add 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar and continue beating until stiff but not dry. Scrape off the beaters, and, without washing them, place them in the flour-and-oil mixture and beat at low speed just until well blended. In four additions, gently fold this mixture into the egg whites.

4.Turn the batter out into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a rubber spatula. Rap the pan sharply on the counter once to remove any large air bubbles. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the top feels springy and a cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean. (The top of the cake will be cracked.)

5.Cool the cake upright on a wire rack for 10 minutes. With a knife, loosen sides and center of cake from the pan. Invert onto the rack, lift off pan and cool cake completely. Place on a serving platter and top with a light sifting of confectioners' sugar.

Welding

Welding

Power supplies

To supply the electrical energy necessary for arc welding processes, a number of different power supplies can be used. The most common welding power supplies are constant current power supplies and constant voltage power supplies. In arc welding, the length of the arc is directly related to the voltage, and the amount of heat input is related to the current

Processes

One of the most common types of arc welding is shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), which is also known as manual metal arc welding (MMA) or stick welding. Electric current is used to strike an arc between the base material and consumable electrode rod, which is made of steel and is covered with a flux that protects the weld area from oxidation and contamination by producing CO2 gas during the welding process. The electrode core itself acts as filler material, making a separate filler unnecessary.

Printing

TLE 50

“Graphics Science and Arts”

Silk Screen Printing

Screen printing is a printing technique that uses a woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil. The attached stencil forms open areas of mesh that transfer ink as a sharp-edged image onto a substrate. A roller or squeegee is moved across the screen stencil, forcing or pumping ink past the threads of the woven mesh in the open areas.

Screen printing is also a stencil method of print making in which a design is imposed on a screen of silk or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance, and ink is forced through the mesh onto the printing surface. It is also known as Screen Printing, silkscreen, seriography, and serigraph.

In addition to the materials supplied in the Silk Screen Kits, you may want to have the following items on hand:

. Water resistant masking tape, 1 "wide
. Screw driver
. Old newspapers
. Sheet of cardboard
. Small scrub brush
. House detergent (See pg.6)
. Scissors
. BBA No.1 Photoflood (preferred) or a clear 150W incandescent bulb
. Aluminum foil disposable pie tin with 10" or 12" diameter
. Cellophane tape
. Paper cups
. SPEEDBALL Technical Black Ink & SPEEDBALL Pens
. Old towels, rags, paper towels
. 9"x12" piece of glass, plexiglas, or lucite
. Rubber gloves
. Apron or smock

PREPARING YOUR TOOLS

Step A

Two hinges with screws and removable pins are included in Speedball kits (#4521 & 4522 only). These are easily attached by first joining the halves together with the hinge pins. It is best to mount the side of the hinge with two bearings to the base and the side of the hinge with one bearing to the screen frame.

Then, position the assembled hinges over the 11 pilot" holes on top of the frame and base and screw them in place. Be sure they are right side up. Follow this by screwing the kick leg to the side of the frame. A "pilot" hole has been provided for this also.

The kick leg should be "frees winging".

Step B

The next important step in preparation is to detach the frame from the base and scrub both sides of the screen fabric with a bristle or nylon brush and trisodium phosphate/water or dish washer powder/water solution.

Let it dry thoroughly after rinsing. For water-based inks, use 1 wide water-resistant masking tape. Lay the tape so it is divided equally-half on the screen fabric-half on the screen frame. Turn the frame over and cover the groove with tape. Be certain that the tape extends beyond the frame and onto the fabric. For solvent-based inks, use gummed water-soluble tape in the same manner.

Taping in this way helps to maintain a "tight" screen, and prevents ink from leaking under the screen frame during printing and will keep the edges of your prints clean. To get maximum adhesion of the tape, rub it with a spoon or wooden stirrer.

Step C

There are a number of ways to prepare a screen to print the picture or message you want. While the methods are different, the basic principle is to make a stencil on the screen fabric which allows ink to be forced through its "open" areas to produce a design.
